چکیده
Abstract Many corrosion problems are caused by the presence of microorganisms, so-called microbiologically influenced (MIC). A major representative MIC-causing bacteria includes group sulfate-reducing (SRB), which accumulate in biofilms on surface. Removal biofilm inhabiting is much more complex compared to planktonic cell removal, particular, based formation an extracellular polymeric substance matrix (EPS layer). Current control strategies mainly involve use biocides. The development resistance a problem limited number suitable biocides and their frequent use. consequence requirement even elevated concentrations, worst-case scenarios results complete loss efficacy. Recently, antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) especially field medical devices has been distinguished, including coating implants with AMPs for retarding or completely preventing formation. Transferring technical applications as MIC controlling agents offers high potential, therefore. However, open circuits, e.g. ship trunks wastewater pipes, immobilization surfaces quite important, while keeping active. This article presents various established this purpose, special focus covalent AMP metal surfaces. Graphical abstract

Covalent immobilization of lysozyme on ethylene vinyl alcohol films for nonmigrating antimicrobial packaging applications.
The objective of this study was to develop a new antimicrobial film, in which lysozyme was covalently attached onto two different ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymers (EVOH 29 and EVOH 44). The EVOH surface was modified with UV irradiation treatment to generate carboxylic acid groups, and lysozyme was covalently attached to the functionalized polymer surface. Surface characterization of control an...

Bacterial colonization and subsequent biofilm formation is still one of the major problems associated with medical devices. Antimicrobial peptides (AMP) immobilization onto biomaterials surface is a promising strategy to avoid bacterial colonization. However, a correct peptide orientation and exposure from the surface is essential to maintain AMP antimicrobial activity. This work aims to evalua...
متن کاملCovalent immobilization of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) onto biomaterial surfaces.
Bacterial adhesion to biomaterials remains a major problem in the medical devices field. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are well-known components of the innate immune system that can be applied to overcome biofilm-associated infections. Their relevance has been increasing as a practical alternative to conventional antibiotics, which are declining in effectiveness. The recent interest focused on ...
متن کاملInvited Review Peptide Design for Antimicrobial and Immunomodulatory Applications
The increasing threat of antibiotic resistance in pathogenic bacteria and the dwindling supply of antibiotics available to combat these infections poses a significant threat to human health throughout the world. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have long been touted as the next generation of antibiotics capable of filling the anti-infective void. Unfortunately, peptide-based antibiotics have yet t...
